We are all about the homemade courts in parking lots and on the street, but sometimes it's nice to play where there isn't any traffic and the lines are nicely painted.
Here are some of our favorite spots to play in and around Austin, Texas:
Courts on Courts on Courts
Dreamland in Dripping Springs
There are no shortage of courts at Dreamland -- 16 actually, four of which are covered. They have open play and you can also make court reservations online. You can also find many of the pro's out there!
If you want do something because play pickle, they also have the country's hardest mini golf course, a beer garden, and even live music sometimes.
The Basics That You Need
Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center
When we want to just play pickleball, our go-to is Austin Tennis and Pickleball Center off 290. Depending on the time of day, it's pretty easy to reserve one of their eight courts.
You won't find anything there besides pickle and tennis, but we're not looking for much else. The Greater Austin Pickleball Association (GAP) also runs programs out there if you're looking to get involved.
Social Spot in Town
Bouldin Acres
This is a drinkery and a dinkery (don't worry, we rolled our eyes as we wrote that too.) With just two courts, Bouldin Acres is more about coming to hang with friends than play aggressive games of pickleball.
You can reserve your courts online in advance, which is highly recommended during happy hour/weekend times. In addition to a full bar, they have other yard games, a playground, and it's dog friendly.
Views and Vibes and Wine
5 Soul Wine Co in Spicewood
Also outside of Austin, 5 Soul Wine Co is a beautiful winery co-located with Frontyard Brewing. In addition to all the beverages and views of Hill Country, they happen to have pickleball courts.
They definitely have our vote for prettiest place to play pickleball.
